Comento una experiencia que tuve al instalar Kubuntu y mi modem que es un Huawei SmartAX MT810 que, como muchos habrán notado, bajo Windows podemos instalarlo fácilmente pero en Linux es diferente…
Nota: Tener conectado el modem en todo momento.
PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
Archivo usado: pppoe_3.8-3_i386.deb Hardy – Jaunty – Karmic – Lucid
(Suponemos que los archivos fueron colocados en la Carpeta Personal).
Paso a Paso:
1-Abrimos Konsole (Alt+F2; escribimos Konsole; clic en Konsole) y cambiamos a root (escribimos sudo su e ingresamos la contraseña).
2-Instalamos el firmware ingresando los siguientes comandos en orden:
cd /lib/firmware/
mkdir ueagle-atm
cd /home/*nombre_del_usuario*/
tar -zxvf ueagle-data-1.1.tar.gz
cd ueagle-data-1.1
cp * /lib/firmware/ueagle-atm
rm *
cd /home/*nombre_del_usuario*/
rmdir ueagle-data-1.1
3-Cargamos el módulo instalado:
modprobe ueagle-atm
6-A continuación escribimos:
br2684ctl -c 0 -b -a 0.33
ifconfig nas0 up
7-Escribimos pppoeconf y seguimos los pasos en pantalla.
Con esto, ya tendremos instalado y configurado el módem. Lo siguiente, son los comandos que se deberán ingresar en una consola (como root) cada vez que se quiera conectar.
-Conexión-
modprobe br2684
br2684ctl -c 0 -b -a 0.33
ifconfig nas0 up
pon dsl-provider
En caso de perder el Grub por algún cambio inesperado… podemos recuperarlo iniciando desde el CD de Kubuntu.
Luego en consola, se debe escribir los siguientes comandos:
sudo fdisk -l
-Nota: Con este comando observamos en qué partición está el Sistema Operativo.
sudo mount /dev/sdaX /mnt
-Nota: X se reemplaza por el número de la partición donde se encuentra instalado el Sistema Operativo.
sudo mount –bind /dev /mnt/dev
sudo chroot /mnt
grub-install –recheck /dev/sda
Reiniciar
sudo update-grub2
